Many asylum seekers in Germany would like to work as taxi drivers, but this profession is regulated in Germany. First of all, you need a taxi licence ("Taxischein"). This involves passing an examination. The most important question is how well you know the city where you want to work.
Language knowledge and local knowledge required
You have to know the streets, hotels, hospitals and restaurants well in order to be able to bring your customers there. You cannot just rely on a sat-nav system. In addition, you of course need a driving licence and must have been registered for at least two years in Germany. Moreover, as a taxi driver you need to be at least 21 and physically healthy.
