Protecting the environment and saving energy

The German economy is growing. Traffic is also steadily increasing. However, a lot of industry and traffic does not just mean prosperity. It also pollutes the environment, damaging people’s health. For this reason, there are a lot of environmental protection laws. Exhaust fumes and liquid waste from industrial sources are strictly controlled. Cars and other means of transport must comply with increasingly strict environmental laws.

What you can do

Everyone can make a contribution to protecting the environment, even privately. Rubbish should therefore be separated and also avoided, as much as possible. Saving energy also protects the environment. For this reason, schoolchildren learn to turn off the light when leaving a room and to turn up the heating only as far as necessary.
Visitors to certain parks and conservation areas should also take care not to pull up or trample on rare plants. Fires are not permitted on these sites either and you are usually not allowed to just lie on the grass and have a picnic. There are lots of other parks where you are allowed to do this.
