A school-based training course is free in many institutions – usually public ones. But normally you do not receive any payment for your training either. By contrast, in some private schools you have to pay tuition fees. Normally you get work experience during the school-based training course, for which you are usually paid a little.

Your school certificates are important

You will be asked about your school-leaving qualification at most vocational training course locations. Therefore, you should be sure to clarify whether your school-leaving qualification from your native country is recognised in Germany.
