The range of degree courses in Germany is very diverse, with many options for studying. A good knowledge of German is indispensable for studying. As an alternative, if you have a good knowledge of English, you can also take advantage of English-language courses. An important prerequisite for studying is proof that you are entitled to do so, i.e. have university entry qualifications ("Abitur") or equivalent schooling or attended a university in your native country.
Advice on the right degree course
If you would like to move to another city to study, you should first consult your immigration authority ("Ausländerbehörde") to find out if this is also allowed.
The career guidance services of the employment agencies ("Agenturen für Arbeit") provide information. Universities and universities of applied sciences ("Fachhochschulen") also have their own advisory offices where you can find out what they have on offer.
