Having fun, finding friends, spending free time and holidays with people of the same age – this is what the thousands of associations for children and young people in Germany offer. The associations are geared towards young people between the ages of 6 and 27. Some focus on sport, while others focus on politics, religion, environmental protection or culture. There are also associations for young people with a migration background or for refugees. Children and young people are active in these associations on a voluntary basis and receive no payment for it.
You or your children can get involved with one of the associations. There are some associations which have special offers for refugees. You can find information on local youth associations at the youth welfare office ("Jugendamt") or from the state consortium of youth associations ("Landesjugendring").
